This National Nurses Week is the perfect time to introduce our South Clinical Manager, Jamie Samuels.
Originally from Central Illinois, Jamie has been in Colorado since 1991. She’s worked in healthcare since 1988, starting as a CNA and later becoming an RN. She earned a BSN from Chamberlain College of Nursing.
A person of faith and deep convictions (and boundless energy), Jamie is passionate about the concept of work-life balance in healthcare. She believes this includes efficient communication and work practices, safe staffing ratios, sensible scheduling and opportunities for self-care. She is investing heavily in the nursing profession through sharing resources, opening up clinical sites for students and increasing the secondary educational knowledge of what hospice is as a discipline–including the creation of a hospice program for new graduates.
Jamie is married with one adult daughter and a foster daughter. A Broncos fan, foodie and lover of molecular gastronomy, she also enjoys photography, travel and playing piano. She has two mini dachshunds, Mr. Diggums and Miss Daisy. Fun fact: In 1988 Jamie was a Miss Stark County/Miss Illinois candidate.
She says, “I enjoy empowering patients and family with support systems and all the tools possible so their last chapter together can be one of the best.”
